janKB – A MAN, THE ISLAND AND A FLY IN THE ROOM

KUNSTHAUS WIESBADEN

The work “A man, the island and a fly in the room” metaphorically thematizes the escape of a man from social life. He cuts the connection to the outside, chooses the inner immigration as his way of life. Symbolically, he withdraws to an island and reduces social connections to a minimum. In order not to have to see himself. In order not to be seen by others. He observes, but does not participate.

A real model in his immediate vicinity was used by janKB for this work. However, the implementation of this project aims at the general essence of this way of life. The images were created in the period from 2017 to 2021 on various Nordic islands.
